I got to reconnect with a lady who observed me during my student teaching days. She has always been and continues to be so kind whenever we get the chance to see each other.

We had the opportunity last week to take pictures of her son. We had so much fun, and he kept us laughing throughout the session with his great sense of humor. We wish him the best as he heads off to college.

We had the opportunity of doing a special session with this sweet family. They are missionaries in Brazil, and they are here for the summer. This family is serving with Project AmaZon. We made such great friends through this experience.

The oldest daughter is getting ready to head off to Bible college here in the states for a year, so we did a special senior session for her. We had a lot of fun!

I love this time of year. I am filled with excitement looking back to previous years as this was the time our two children were born. Now it is birthday parties, family vacations, going to the fair, and just enjoying the summer time together as a family. These are some of the things our family has been up to.

One morning we woke up and spur of the moment decided to take a trip to Chicago.
Landon loved the Shedd Aquarium
We met up with my parents in the evening at Navy Pier for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co . Here we are trying out the crazy mirrors.

We had the privilege last weekend of seeing President George W. Bush at this event...
And of course it is birthday party time. Landon will celebrate his tomorrow and Elle two weeks later. We had a party for them: McDonald's for supper and then Miller Park to play.

Below Elle is wearing a pettiskirt and top from Oopsy Daisy Baby. We are so excited about this product line. We will be photographing Elle's 1 year pictures in it and hope to use their products in future sessions.

Her first attempt at digging into cake... She really wasn't into it. I didn't know if it was because she didn't want to get dirty, because she had no nap, or because she is still on baby food and is not familiar with real food. Maybe she'll do better when her actual birthday is really here.

This family is so nice. They kindly rescheduled when I had my stay at the hospital, and they didn't complain about the heat when their session actually came. It was hot! Their family is growing, and we are so excited for them!

Our little boy has some favorites in his life right now...

1) His beloved baseball outfit:

"Mommy is my baseball (outfit) clean?" I have to keep up with the laundry otherwise I have a disappointed little boy. When I tell him it is clean, he looks at his outfit, hugs it, and replies, "Oh mommy, thank you so much!" He seriously could wear this outfit all the time. The complete ensemble is his shirt, shorts, and shoes which you see pictured. There was a time when he wore it 3 days in a row - nonstop. I usually only allow him to wear it during play time or for bed. I think he will be sad when he outgrows it... actually I probably will be the sad one.

2) Playing baseball:

He loves for us to play baseball with him. I should count the number of times a day he asks us if we will play baseball with him. It is a lot! I love to see his face light up and the enjoyment he receives when we are playing together. We took him to the baseball diamond the other day for a quick photo shoot before running errands. We wanted to be sure to capture this time in his life!

(Notice the tongue out in a few of these pictures. He gets that from his daddy and does it when he is working hard or concentrating). I love this little boy!

What a fun family shoot we had...

We captured a bit of the midwest for them as their lives are taking them new places.

We were adventurous and found some tiny frogs that they played with for a bit. Oh they were so tiny and cute! Landon saw this picture below and now wants to go find them too.

We had a newborn session yesterday. This little guy was a dream! The first image you see has special meaning. The great-grandfather of this newborn recently went home to be with his Heavenly Father. The flower was from the service, and this little guy's name honors his dad and his great-grandfather. so precious.

I also wanted to say thank you for those who have helped us out this past week. For those of you who don't know, I was hospitalized with a kidney stone these last couple of days. If you've ever had a kidney stone you will know how painful it is! I also got one with our first child at 20 weeks and had to be hospitalized then as well. It is not fun!

I am so thankful for my family helping me and the love they showed during this time.

First of all to my wonderful husband...I am so thankful for your talents you have in the medical field. Your knowledge, experience, and care you give continue to amaze me. Thank you for always being there and helping me. I'm so proud of you and I love you!

Thank you to our family members who so willingly showed their love and helped out in the spur of the moment - without us even asking for help! Denise you are awesome... showing up at the hospital when we didn't know if we were going to be admitted and taking the kids for us overnight and all the next day. Mom and Dad for watching them in the evening and my Mom for helping me come home and get situated once again. Sara, thank you for babysitting when I needed a day of recovery. You all are the best!

It is in these moments that I realize how thankful I am for the love of my family, my health, and all the gifts that God gives me. I love you all! ~Haley

Here is the new studly outfit that Papa & Nana Kieser bought for him :)
This was the ONE day we actually did go to sit out on the beach. The rest of the images were taken later in the day. Anymore it is too difficult to take kids when it is hot and sandy. I think we lasted only several hours ;)
Of course we had to eat at the Pier Side Grill for lunch...tradition.

We had been fishing (using shrimp for bait). After checking the line after a bit and reeling in, Landon got all excited and said, "We caught a shrimp!"

The reason of our passion for photography

We captured some new baby pictures for a wonderful family friend of ours in September 2007. Sandy, the awesome grandma, was not able to be there the day of the photo shoot. We did a special session to capture grandma with her first grandchild. We also snuck in a few shots of just her and her husband together. The reason we write this is to let you know that this amazing woman has stage 4 breast cancer. She has been battling this for several years and recently has taken a turn for the worse. We would like all who visit this site to please pray for her... that God's Will may be done and that her pain would be manageable. We also ask that you pray for her precious family (husband, daughter, 2 sons, son-in-law, and handsome grandson). This has been a very difficult journey for them, but she has remained positive throughout the experience and has always looked to God as her strength. We LOVE them so much! This is truly why we want to capture special moments. We never know what God's plan is for us.

Cookies, Gumdrops, and Togetherness

Ice kept us indoors yesterday. We had fun family time making monster cookies,decorating our gumdrop tree, and spending time together as a family. We listened to Christmas music, sat by the fire, and drank our coffee. I love days like this.
We made over 80 monster cookies. I hope they last awhile but for some reason they are quickly disappearing. :)

The meaning of Christmas

This year we are trying to remind Landon of the true meaning of Christmas... OUR SAVIOR'S BIRTH! We tell Landon that we are celebrating Jesus' birthday. At first he said, "No, my birthday." I think he wishes his birthday was everyday. :)

He sees the gifts we are wrapping and thinks they are for him. As you know, a favorite word of a two year old is "mine."

We have a Willow Tree Nativity Set at our home that I let him play with. I probably should buy a play nativity set because Joseph has already broken his arm. :)

I just pray that he see the love we share and the true meaning of Christmas this year. I'd love to hear the ways you all share the true meaning of Christmas with your family.

Here is a picture we took of my mom and all her girl grandchildren in their Matilda Jane dresses. What a challenge it was to get them all looking up :) Of course, since Elle can't sit up she kept slouching and crying. I've tried to get all of the red out of her eyes. Let's just say, by the time we were all done, this was one of the better pictures. What a memory we made!

Lil' Golfer

Golf has become one of Landon's new passions. Grandpa Kruse had one of his own putters cut down for him. Landon thought it was so neat to have a real golf club. He has been practicing at home everyday hitting the ball into small buckets. Yesterday we took him to the golf course to hit the ball, and he had a ball. :)

Minivan Mom

For those of you who don't know, we are now owners of a minivan! Yes, we have now officially taken on the mommy/daddy roll. It is funny because Tater had always said that he will Not own a minivan or have his child watch Barney. He has broken both rules. :) We both actually love our van, and we were so glad to have it last weekend for our getaway trip to Minnesota. Here is a picture from the Mall of America. Landon loved the rides there and of course I loved all the stores. :)
I really felt like a mom the other day when I took Landon to tumbling (open gym) in the minivan. We had a great time. My sister April and Jessica Beer invited us. Landon loved it. For those of you with kids, it is a great place to go to let them release their energy. Especially in the winter. Open gym is $5 for an hour. Landon loved jumping on the trampolines. They also have a foam pit, balls, balance beam and bars. Check out their website at http://www.risingstarsacademy.com/ for the open gym hours.
Anyway, I'm very thankful for our minivan, and I'm really enjoying our new ride. :)

IT'S A GIRL!

Our birth story: Contractions began early Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. They were 12 min. apart and strong enough to where I couldn't get back to sleep. It may have been the excitement of thinking that this could be it that kept me awake too. So, when sleep was not coming I decided to get up and make cookies (knowing that if this was for real my parents would be coming to get Landon and I wanted a treat for them). At 5:30 in the morning Tater awoke and came into the kitchen and said "Are you a crackstar? What are you doing?" I told him what was up but by then the contractions seem to be disappearing. False alarm? I was getting tired so I went back to sleep till Landon woke us around 7. I slept great but when I woke up the contractions came back. We called my Mom and Dad just in case this was the real thing. They came over and we awaited to see what the outcome would be. Sure enough by 3:30 in the afternoon my contractions were strong and 3 min. apart. We left for the hospital and the rest is as follows: STRONG contractions, Epidural! 4:30 :), pushing around 7:15, Elle arrived 7:24! Before I got the epidural I was dilating very fast so the epidural couldn't quite take completely but it took the edge off the pain and was very nice! We are thrilled to have such a smooth delivery and most of all a beautiful gift from God~ a healthy baby girl!

Tater thought the baby was going to be a girl and I thought boy. Tater was the first one who saw the sex of the baby and got to say it first. :) I didn't quite believe him till I saw her with my own eyes :)

My mom got to be in the delivery room with us. We made that out ahead of time. She had come to us asking if she could view one of her grandchildren being born. She had mentioned that she would stay in the corner and not say anything. My mom, yeah right! Wait- is this proof!?!We had fun and were glad to have her there. She got teary eyed when the baby arrived was our photographer through our incredible experience. Thanks mom for all your support!

Landon has been doing great with baby Elle. He was a little jealous at first but now loves to hold her and help. He even has been setting his little tractors on her lap. We are happy to be a family of four and feel so blessed!
